Design the approval gate before anything goes home

Lesson 2 of 5 · Workflows & automation

1 · Learn the move · Constraints + negative instructions

A gate is the step where a person reads before a thing leaves. For a classroom the gate sits in front of three doors: anything to a family, anything into a file, anything that decides a placement or a grade. The tool can draft up to the gate and check the draft against your rules. It cannot open the gate. The decision stays yours, and the gate's design is what makes sure it is you who makes it, not the 9pm version of you.

Design the approval gate for my family communication: what gets checked before I read it, what I check that a tool cannot, and the three things that never pass without me. No student goes in by name in the checklist.

2 · Your turn. You write the prompt

A note home got sent last spring with a reading level in it nobody had measured. Nobody was careless; there was no gate. Design one for everything that goes to a family, into a file or into the gradebook.

Write the prompt for this scenario as given, or swap in a real one from your own work. The score works the same either way.

Remember: the AI sees only your prompt, not this page. If the situation isn't in your prompt, it doesn't exist.

Optional. These shape the output when you run your prompt below, not your score.
