Let Claude read your inbox and calendar
Lesson 3 of 3 · Claude & Cowork mastery
1 · Learn the move · Context + audience
A connector turns 'what's on Thursday' into a question the tool can answer. The calendar is the easy one: a bell schedule and a department meeting name no child. The inbox is not: it has families in it, and a family's email about their child is as much a record as the gradebook. Connect the calendar. On the inbox, the decision stays yours, and the district's rule on AI and records decides it before you do.
Read my calendar for the week and build my planning view: periods, meetings, duty, the days with no prep. Do not read my email. If a calendar entry names a student, letter it and tell me.
2 · Your turn. You write the prompt
The calendar connector is approved on the district account. The email connector is one click away and would save you twenty minutes a morning. Write the prompt for the calendar, and the question you ask the technology director before the second click.
Write the prompt for this scenario as given, or swap in a real one from your own work. The score works the same either way.
Remember: the AI sees only your prompt, not this page. If the situation isn't in your prompt, it doesn't exist.
Optional. These shape the output when you run your prompt below, not your score.
