Your skill kit

Six skills that run the whole flow on your own work: interview, brief, small jobs, one job at a time, a check in a new chat, and a look back. Each is plain text. Save it as a saved prompt, a project instruction or a skill file in whatever assistant you use, and keep it.

One zip, with NOTICE.md and a readme.

1 of 6 · Interview

Interview me first

Before a bigger piece of work or a decision, it asks you the questions you would skip.

Example. I say I want a better weekly update for families. Round one asks how long it can be, what it must never share, and which language families need. Its recommended answer to the second: no student names and no grades.

Where to save it
  • Claude. Upload the skill folder as a skill, or paste the text into a Project's instructions. In Claude Code, put the folder in your skills folder.
  • ChatGPT. Paste the text into a Project's instructions or a custom GPT's instructions, or into your custom instructions.
  • Gemini. Paste the text into a Gem's instructions.
  • Copilot. Paste the text into a Notebook's instructions, or keep it in a file you attach when you need it.
  • Any other assistant. Keep the file. Paste it at the start of a chat, then say which job you are on.

Then run it on one real piece of work and change the wording until it sounds like you.

Licence and credit

This skill is adapted from the grilling skill in an open source set, the skills library. The wording and examples are rewritten for your work. The original licence travels with it. Every download carries NOTICE.md, and the copied text ends with a credit line.

2 of 6 · Brief

Write the one page brief

Turns what you agreed into one page you can hand to any chat as standing context.

Example. Brief for the family update. Problem: families hear about the week too late. Result: one short message each Friday with topics and what to practice. Out of scope: grades and anything about one student.

3 of 6 · Jobs

Cut it into small jobs

Cuts the brief into jobs that each work alone, and marks which ones need your OK.

Example. 1 List this week's topics and homework (check: matches my plan). 2 Draft the family message. 3 Send it, which needs my OK and is blocked by 2.

  • Copilot. Paste the text into a Notebook's instructions, or keep it in a file you attach when you need it.
  • Any other assistant. Keep the file. Paste it at the start of a chat, then say which job you are on.

Then run it on one real piece of work and change the wording until it sounds like you.

4 of 6 · Do

Do one job and check it

Does one job from the list, checks it, and stops at anything that needs your OK.

Example. I paste job 2, draft the family message. It drafts it, checks the topics against my plan, and reports one homework item that does not match.

  • Copilot. Paste the text into a Notebook's instructions, or keep it in a file you attach when you need it.
  • Any other assistant. Keep the file. Paste it at the start of a chat, then say which job you are on.

Then run it on one real piece of work and change the wording until it sounds like you.

OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE
SOFTWARE.

5 of 6 · Check

Check the work two ways

In a new chat, checks the work against your brief and against your own rules, one list each.

Example. Pass one finds a topic in my plan that the message leaves out. Pass two finds a phrase that points at one student, against my rule to use no names.

  • Any other assistant. Keep the file. Paste it at the start of a chat, then say which job you are on.

Then run it on one real piece of work and change the wording until it sounds like you.

6 of 6 · Look back

Look back and fix the setup

After a piece of work or a week, it suggests changes to your setup so the next run goes better.

Example. It notices it kept guessing reading levels, and suggests a references file for my class profile with no names. It suggests moving my never-do list to the top of the map file.

  • Any other assistant. Keep the file. Paste it at the start of a chat, then say which job you are on.

Then run it on one real piece of work and change the wording until it sounds like you.
